Recipe Sweet Potato Biscuits

Recipe sweet potato biscuits. Some sweet potato biscuits include warm spices like cinnamon nutmeg allspice or cloves. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic about 5 minutes. Use canned sweet potato puree instead of the roasted mashed sweet potatoes.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Cover and chill 8 hours if desired. In a small bowl whisk together sweet potato puree and buttermilk.
Preheat the oven to 450 f. Cut in the shortening until pieces of shortening are pea sized or smaller. Stir in yeast mixture and mashe sweet potatoes just until blended.
Cut with a floured 2 in. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil over high heat. Preheat the oven to 425 f 220 c.
I guess mama just had a need to do something a little different every once in awhile and would make up a big old pan of these biscuits for all the family to enjoy. In a separate bowl stir together buttermilk and sweet potato until homogenous. Add the flour mixture to the potato mixture and mix to make a soft dough.
Place dough in a well greased bowl turning to grease top. Just make sure to pat it very dry before adding it to the dough. Stir quickly into flour mixture until combined do not overmix.
