Saute the shallots garlic and red pepper flakes if using until the shallots are. Season shrimp with kosher salt and black pepper. Melt 2 tablespoons butter with 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the shrimp season with salt and pepper and cook stirring 1 minute. Cook and stir shallots garlic and red pepper flakes in the hot butter and oil until shallots are translucent 3 to 4 minutes. Drain pasta and add to dutch oven along with reserved pasta cooking liquid and remaining 4 tbsp.
