Recipe Rebel Hot Dog Buns
In the bowl of a stand mixer or a very large bowl if you are kneading by hand whisk together the 2 cups warm water butter 1 3 cup sugar and salt.
Recipe rebel hot dog buns. Line up on baking sheets about 1 1 5 apart. Transfer dough cut sides up to the prepared baking sheet about set them about 1 4 inch apart. Place your shaped buns into a baking pan.
In a bowl dissolve yeast in 1 4 cup warm water. For hot dog buns that are not as thick press down to flatten slightly. Bake at 400 degrees f 200 degrees c for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Add the remaining water and sugar milk shortening salt eggs and 4 cups flour. This recipe makes 8 hot dog buns but the recipe can be doubled or tripled as needed. Add the bubbly yeast mixture and stir to combine.
Starting with the longer side roll up tightly and pinch edges and ends to seal. You can also knead by hand. This recipe can be used to make either hamburger buns or hot dog buns.
These buns are then frozen and stored in air tight containers. The milk has to be warm to the touch for the yeast to function well. Shape each piece into a 6x4 inch rectangle.
The buns freeze well so you can make more and freeze the rest for later use. Bake at 400 degrees f for 15 20 minutes until light golden brown. Cover the baking sheet with a kitchen towel and allow the buns to rise in a warm place for another hour.
